Q: What will the background be for my child's portrait?
Unlike most school pictures, our unique portraits are often taken outdoors whenever possible, allowing for a beautiful, natural background. If your school has requested indoor photo sessions or if circumstances do not allow for outdoor photography, portraits may be taken indoors with a backdrop selected by the school. Q: What should my child wear to Picture Day?
Our photography looks best when your child wears clothes that are neat and comfortable, with bright, solid colors or simple patterns. Black and white do not usually photograph as well as colors and we recommend avoiding neon colors and sequins since they can cause reflections on children's faces. Portraits typically feature the student from the chest up, but could potentially show most of the upper torso and even the tops of legs. Be sure your child wears an outfit that is appropriate for this composition. Please also keep in mind that our photographers are not permitted to make physical contact with the children and therefore, will not be able to fix their hair or straighten their clothing. If you have specific style requests, we recommend communicating those requests to the teacher.
Q: When will I receive my child's proofs?
Approximately 10-14 days after Picture Day, you will receive a password and ordering instructions. You'll be able to use the password to view your child's images and order online.
Q: I can't find my child's password. Can you help?
We're always happy to retrieve a password for you. Please contact us by calling (508) 907-6633 extension 0 or emailing lifeguards@coffeepond.com. We'll just need the student's name and the name of the school in order to look up password information.
Q: What if my child missed the original Picture Day?
No problem! If your child missed Picture Day, they will automatically be registered for Retake Day at no charge if retakes are offered at your school. There's no need for you to sign up or pay for retakes. Retake Day typically takes place anywhere from 3 to 6 weeks after the originally Picture Day. Your school should be providing detailed information about Retake Day to families, including the date, time, and location.
Please keep in mind that our photographer will not be able to seek out students to be photographed during Retake Day. It will be the students' responsibility to see the photographer if they want to sit for a retake portrait. If your child is in elementary school or younger, we strongly recommend letting their teacher know that you'd like them to participate in Retake Day. There is only one Retake Day and we will not be returning to the school again after that date.
Q: Is retouching available?
Yes, basic retouching is available for $20 per image. If you are requesting this service, please be as specific as possible in your instructions. Basic retouching includes eliminating minor blemishes, stray hairs on the face, and minor glass glare.
Additional charges may apply for more complex retouching requests. Extensive requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. We will contact you if your request does not fall within the scope of basic retouching. Coffee Pond will not charge any additional fees without contacting the customer and receiving permission to apply the extra charges before undertaking the work.
Adding retouching to an order may add up to two weeks to the processing time.
Q: What if I don't like my child's proofs?
If your school is offering a Retake Day, a link will appear right underneath their images on our website. You can click this link to register your child for Retake Day and pay the $10 fee. Retake Day typically takes place anywhere from 3 to 6 weeks after the originally Picture Day. Your school should be providing detailed information about Retake Day to families, including the date, time, and location.
Please keep in mind that our photographer will not be able to seek out students to be photographed during Retake Day. Q: How long will it take to receive my order?
Print orders will be received about 3-4 weeks from the time the order is placed. These orders will be mailed directly to you at the address that was provided when the order was placed. Digital sharing files are sent as soon as the order is submitted online, unless retouching has been requested. If you need to receive your order in time for the December holidays, please be sure to submit it by the deadline provided in your ordering instructions.
Q: What if I miss the holiday ordering deadline?
Orders received after the holiday ordering deadline will be processed normally. We'll do our best to rush orders received after that deadline, but we can't promise they'll be delivered in time for the holidays. If you don't need your pictures in time for the holidays, you'll be able to use your child's password to order them anytime for years to come. Images from as far back as 10 years ago are still available to be viewed and ordered online.
Q: How can I order a class photo?
If your school has elected to have class photos taken, every student will receive a copy for free. We'll provide enough complimentary copies of each class photo for every student to receive one. We'll also a send a few extra, free copies for each class. These class photos will be distributed by the school. They will not necessarily be included in the envelope with your child's individual pictures. If class photos have already been distributed and your child hasn't received one, please check with the teacher or with someone in the office at the school. They should be able to give you one of the extra copies we provided.
Q: Will my child's picture be used in the yearbook?
The yearbook advisor at your school will be the best person to ask about what will appear in the book. Schools independently determine yearbook content.
Q: I haven't received my order. Can you help me?
If you haven't received all the correct items within 3-4 weeks of ordering, please contact us right away by calling (508) 907-6633 extension 0 or emailing lifeguards@coffeepond.com. We're always happy to help. Please be sure to let us know about any problems with your order as soon as possible. Once six months have passed, we will no longer be able to replace or correct orders at no charge.
Q: Can I still purchase pictures from past years?
Yes! Images going as far back as 10 years are still available to view and order online. Every student is assigned a unique password each year. If you no longer have the password for the pictures you'd like to order, please contact us by calling (508) 907-6633 extension 0 or emailing lifeguards@coffeepond.com and let us know the year the picture was taken. We'll be happy to retrieve the corresponding password for you.
Q: Can I order more pictures after I receive the portrait order?
Absolutely! You may order additional prints as often as you like. Images will be available to order online for several years and the process for reordering will be the same as it was when the original order was placed.
Q: Can I make copies of the portraits on my own?
Coffee Pond Photography's images are protected under copyright law and the low-resolution, watermarked proofs posted on our website are not intended for redistribution. Images therefore cannot legally be copied without permission; however, digital sharing files are available for purchase. Purchasing a digital sharing file would allow you to reproduce the portrait as often as you'd like. It also enables you to share the image with family and friends.
